gospel song

Ten Thousand Angels

how long you have traveled in darkness weeping
no rest in language, no words to speak
but there in the wreckage
beneath bricks and bindings
love has come, love has come for you

against the night sky of your waiting
your face is like starlight when he walks in
everything worth keeping
comes through dyin’
love has come, love has come for you

lift up your heart now, to this unfolding
all that is broken will be restored
here runs deep waters
for all who are thirsty
love has come, love has come for you

ten thousand angels will light your pathway
until the day breaks fully in the East
they will surround you
and make your way straight
love has come, love has come for you
love has come, love has come for you

Our friend Sandra wrote the above song for us when we got engaged. I return to it every now and then and think about David and how our love has grown so much deeper over the past 5 years. I also think about how thankful I am for the people that God gives me. I see through hindsight how God has placed someone in my life very purposefully and intentionally through every chapter. In many ways the people God has given me have been like the angels Sandra mentions helping to light the path, surround me and aid in guiding me down the path. I love the imagery in this song as it gives such a beautiful gospel picture. I also love that this song was written by a friend as she contemplated David's pursuit of me, his love for me and his commitment to me. What an honor it is that our small love story is a reflection and is directly connected to the great love story of God and his people. In thinking this through I find my heart pounding with affection for David as he loves me so well, for my friends who are willing to enter into life with me even when it's hard and of course for Jesus as this whole thing is about him.

Hi sweet Kelly, wow, I don't think I ever heard this song, but I remember David pursuing you and your shower and your beautiful wedding day. I miss you and wish we could live closer. I can't believe it's been 5 years! It's so beautiful how God continues to use you.

God is good. He is so faithful to sustain us and give us what we need. It is even greater when we see that in how He provides our spouse. We miss you guys.
